Duck Herding

Outdoor Activity

If you’re looking for a team building activity that is a little different and is guaranteed to get your team laughing and having fun together, then we would highly recommend duck herding. This quintessentially British activity is somewhat similar to the sheep dog trials you may have seen on TV, but a little less serious and a lot more fun. Instead of herding sheep, your team will be asked to work in pairs to herd a small group of ducks around an obstacle course.

This activity requires excellent communication skills and a lot of patience! You and your partner must work together with the trained border collie to coax this pack of Indian runner ducks through some tunnels, around the gates and down the slide and into the pool at the bottom before guiding them back to their pen. The most successful pairs are the ones that work in tune with each other, moving as one and keeping their cool under pressure.

Throughout your session each person will receive tips and instruction from a top sheepdog handler so don’t worry, you’ll be in good hands. The ducks don’t like to make things simple though. These cheeky creatures will often get distracted, wonder off in a different direction or just decide not to play ball. This is perhaps why this activity has proved to be a firm favourite with our corporate clients. The ducks are not only cute and entertaining, their occasionally naughty personalities provide ample opportunity for some great stories when you get back to the office.

Our experienced duck herding instructor will bring along all of the necessary equipment, as well as a large team of ducks to ensure that that each small group of our feathered friends only takes part in a few runs, ensuring a fun, stress free event for everyone involved. If you’re interested in one of our countryside venues or are planning a rural retreat with your team, why not add duck herding to your next event. Or combine with some of our other team building challenges to create a multi-activity day that is bound to keep your delegates entertained.
